During the last year we have all lost a lot and learnt a lot. First people lived in denial, then in resistance, then in fear, then in boredom, then tried to adapt to some sense of normality. Then the second wave hit, hence the same cycle hit again.
Reflecting over the past the lessons that I learnt are:
- Acceptance during challenging times, just to accept the situation as it is.
- Fear: I lived in fear for a long time, fear of losing my job, fear of catching the virus, fear of losing loved ones. This caused me to shutdown mentally, and I wasn’t open to new opportunities. Months later when I stepped back I was grateful of the new opportunities that came along.
- Strength is build through struggles; this by far is the hardest one for me as I hate struggles. I hate struggles because the pain they bring me. However when I go through these struggles, I notice I become wiser and more empathetic to other peoples struggles. This provides me with more endurance and resilience to challenges faced on a daily basis.
In conclusion, I still hate the current situation and the challenges it has brought us, however I also am appreciative of what I have learnt in the process.
I would love to hear your story of Covid-19, the struggles, the challenges, your story of resilience and endurance.
